Grameen Bank is one such microfinance organization started in Bangladesh that makes small loans (known as microcredit) to the impoverished without requiring collateral.
this is the first time i heard about microcredit in npr while coming back home. later i started google for it... i learnt that it is a wonderful concept. looks like they are promoting women as the repay rate is very high (98% rate)...

TN government stupidity
I found these stupid... they just have to rule the government effectively spending people's tax money.
Barely hours after coming to power, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi tracked down his "lost lady" (Kannagi).
Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday decided to pass an order allowing people belonging to all Hindu communities with the required training and qualification to become archakas (priests) in Hindu temples.
